What can you put in a hired skip?

Are you in need of a same day skip hire? Perhaps to complete a commercial contract at pace? Or to avoid several trips to and from a waste centre after completing a project on your home? Then we’ve got you covered. Same day skip hire can also be an even quicker process if you know exactly what you can and can’t put in a skip. As there are a number of regulations with different types of waste, we’ve put together this handy blog to guide you through and make sure your same day skip hire is a fast and convenient process.

What can I dispose of on my same day skip hire?

You might be surprised to find that not everything can simply be thrown into a skip, so be sure to take note of our handy list below of what you can and cannot put in. This will usually help you decide if a skip is the right option for your waste. Common waste items you can put into your skip hire with us at Prince Recycling include:
  • Furniture and furnishings
  • Bricks
  • Rubble/concrete
  • Wood
  • Plastics
  • Cardboard/paper

You may be surprised to know, we also accept the following waste in our skip hires:

  • TVs/monitors
  • Metals
  • Leaves, branches and other garden waste
  • Uncontaminated soil

What items are not eligible for disposable with my same day skip hire?

● Aerosols & gas cylinders:
Whether full or empty, these are dangerous to you and the environment. Gas suppliers are usually willing to collect used cylinders. Alternatively, these will need to be recycled cautiously.
● Asbestos:
This is another dangerous waste item. Asbestos is harmful and hazardous and the government has implemented strict laws around any illegal disposal of this material. Asbestos specialists can advise on the safest way to dispose of this waste, to avoid any harm to your health.
● Batteries:
Batteries are not eligible for disposal on your same day skip hire as they contain harmful metals and chemicals that again can be extremely dangerous. However small, please separate these from any other waste. Local supermarkets or local garages collect batteries for correct disposal or recycling.
● Paints:
Again, not eligible for disposal on your same day skip hire, as they contain harmful compounds.
